Social Emotional Learning and Implications for Children with Serious Emotional Disturbances

What do teachers, parents, schools and clinicians need to know about how to address mental health conditions early and in schools? In this TA Coalition webinar, building on decades of research on building emotionally intelligent communities through its RULER approach, Yale’s Center for Emotional Intelligence (YCEI) will share insights about evidence-based practices in social emotional learning (SEL) from preschool through high school. YCEI will discuss the connection between social emotional learning and anxiety, depression, stress and overall mental health. They will present pathways for involving school staff and parents for implementation of SEL in schools and explore implications for clinicians of early opportunity to develop emotion skills.
