The Nonprofit Board Self-Assessment Tool
This paper from the National Center for Nonprofit Boards clarifies the board’s roles and responsibilities as a collective entity and summarizes individual board members’ responsibilities with the intent of setting criteria by which boards can periodically review their performance and ensure accountability. The article lists five assumptions that address many of the questions surrounding effective board leadership.
